175 New Truck Parking Spaces Coming to I-30 in Northeast Texas

A new project promises the construction of a truck parking facility along Interstate 30 in Northeast Texas. With 175 new parking spaces for truck drivers, construction is scheduled to take place in Bowie County, Texas, beginning in October 2026.

“These projects will take place on both sides of I-30, near County Road 4204, which is west of Farm to Market Road 990,” said Dana Moore, the Texarkana area engineer, in a press release reported by the Texarkana Gazette.

The project was awarded a construction contract to East Texas Bridge Inc. for a total amount of $10,625,436. The project is expected to take approximately 16 months to complete, with completion anticipated around February 2028.

This project comes in addition to another project to improve a weigh station located less than 50 miles away along the I-30 corridor in Titus County. That project will create 22 additional parking spaces for commercial trucks. It was also awarded to East Texas Bridge Inc. for $9,498,728, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Approximately 94% of the spaces are private, while about 2,279 spaces are public.

“Safe truck parking affects the safety of all motorists. However, finding a safe place to park is a fundamental challenge for commercial truck drivers,” Moore said.
