The White House officially launched 25 "Freedom Fuel" gas stations on July 7 in the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.

The White House officially launched 25 “Freedom Fuel” gas stations on July 7 in the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas. With gasoline priced at $3.47 per gallon, slightly below the national average of $3.79 per gallon, these stations are intended as a response to the recent volatility in gasoline prices related to the conflict between the United States and Iran and fluctuations in crude oil prices.

The White House announced the initiative through a video posted on the social media platform X, in which several customers thanked President Donald Trump for lowering gas prices. According to CBS News, a White House spokesperson said that the company behind the Freedom Fuel Network is privately owned, and that the Trump administration has no affiliation with the company and is not subsidizing the gas stations. The spokesperson added that the stations are able to offer lower prices by reducing their profit margins.

“President Trump is leading the effort to lower gas prices this summer, helping you save money, the White House wrote in its post.

Freedom Fuel Network: White House Promises Lower Gas Prices

In May 2026, the national average price of gasoline rose to nearly $5.00 per gallon, driven by higher crude oil costs. According to AAA, during the week of July 6, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stood at $3.80, down from the recent peak of $4.56 recorded in mid-May. Before the conflict between the United States and Iran, the average price was $2.98 per gallon.

According to the White House spokesperson, the initiative comes at a time when Americans remain concerned about current gasoline prices nationwide. However, the Freedom Fuel price is only slightly below the national average, leaving open the question of whether the program will ultimately prove to be a meaningful benefit for consumers.
