Great Dane, Champion 2024: Suspension Issue

Trailer company Great Dane has issued a trailer recall after discovering a suspension problem. According to reports, a loose axle nut may allow the wheel to detach from the trailer, increasing the risk of an accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has shared documents stating that Great Dane is recalling approximately 350 Champion 2024 model trailers. In the affected trailers, the axle nut may have been improperly tightened, so the company will inspect and tighten the axle nut as needed, free of charge.

The defect was detected on November 30th when a user reported a wheel separation in one of their units. After receiving this information, Great Dane initiated an investigation, revealing that the axle nut might not have been properly tightened at the wheel’s end.

Units manufactured before this period were equipped with a different spindle nut, while those produced after underwent a new inspection at the manufacturing plant. Great Dane estimates that only 1% of the affected model has the defect. Notification letters to owners are expected to be sent on February 10, 2024.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2023: Loss of Steering Control in Certain Vehicles

Daimler Vans USA has announced a recall of certain 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles due to potential issues with the left front suspension strut screw, which may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of loss of steering control and potential accidents.

Approximately 33 vehicles could be affected by this defect. Dealerships will conduct inspections and perform necessary repairs. Notification letters to owners are scheduled to be sent on February 9, 2024.

Ford Maverick: Rear Turn Signal Failure

Ford has issued a recall for Maverick vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2024 due to a problem with the rear turn signals. In the event of a failure, the vehicle will not adjust the blinker frequency to alert the driver of the malfunction. This non-compliance violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, increasing the risk of collisions by failing to properly communicate turning maneuvers to other drivers.

This recall affects approximately 189,814 vehicles. The company states that the issue will be resolved by updating the control module software. Notification letters to owners will be mailed starting January 2, 2024.
