This extension was generated by Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles officials who issued this rule in September of last year and for the first time after the impact of Category 5 Hurricane Ian. A tropical cyclone that caused the death of approximately 160 people.
Those who are excepted are specifically those commercial vehicles that transport: equipment, supplies, emergency personnel as well as mobile homes that go to or leave Florida.
Until September 11, this renewal is in force to avoid payment of: vessel registration certificates, vessel titles, vehicle registrations and validation stickers, vehicle registration certificates, vehicle titles, replacement of driver’s licenses and identification cards.
All late renewals or requests for these certificates, documents and licenses are suspended for this same period. In addition, those who operate within the emergency should not carry a copy in their vehicle.
Where can this exemption be used? On state highways, interstates, and in intra- and interstate commerce.
