The spookiest season of the year has arrived, and with it, the creativity to celebrate to the fullest. Some people decorate their homes and yards with ghosts, witches, and creatures from beyond; others prefer a movie marathon that gives them chills. And then there are those who put all their effort into creating the most fun or terrifying costume you can imagine.
And what about truck drivers? Although Halloween can be a challenging day for them, since there are plenty of people who lean more toward tricks than treats, there’s still room for fun. That’s why, to celebrate this holiday safely while keeping the fun alive, we’ve put together a list of activities truck drivers can do to embrace the spirit of Halloween on the road.
Halloween activities for truck drivers
1. “Trunk or Treat”
Whether you can make it home for trick-or-treating or need to stay on the road, you can still join in the fun. Trunk or Treat involves decorating your truck and handing out candy in the neighborhoods you pass through, or if you’re on the route, sharing treats at truck stops to spread a bit of Halloween spirit to your fellow drivers.
Add some cobwebs to your dashboard, fill pumpkins with candy, and be part of Halloween on wheels. And of course, don’t forget your costume, it’s an essential part of the celebration!
2. Costume contest
Organize a costume contest with the truck drivers who will be working with you on Halloween day or night. You can make it even more fun by adding categories, such as the spookiest costume (for example, a “hours-of-service sheet” 
), the funniest, or the most original. The goal is simple: relax, laugh, and share a good time with your colleagues.
3. Decorate your truck
A great way to bring the spirit of Halloween to every mile is by decorating your truck with a spooky theme. Think of a giant pumpkin on your dashboard, a “hellish truck,” a hood covered in cobwebs, or even monster eyes on your headlights. The possibilities are endless, and you’re sure to bring a smile (or a scare) to anyone who crosses your path.
4. Horror Drive-In
One of the most thrilling ways to celebrate Halloween is to immerse yourself in the suspense and terror that only a good movie can provide. If you have some free time during your route, you can stop to watch a movie inside your truck (don’t forget the snacks!) or find a place offering a horror movie in drive-in format.
5. Drive through decorated neighborhoods
If you’re far from home, you can still enjoy the Halloween spirit by driving through neighborhoods along your route and admiring the decorations that residents put up. Take photos and share them with family and friends to feel closer to your loved ones, even while on the road.
