Diesel continues to fall and registers a new decrease in its price and at the national level

The drop in diesel prices continues for another week. According to U.S. Energy Information Administration records, fuel was recorded at $4.146 per gallon on Monday, Nov. 27, down 6 cents from the previous week.

According to the federal agency, national prices at the pump have dropped 40 cents since the Oct. 23 spike. The AAA automobile club reported an increase in diesel prices on Nov. 27 ($4,229 per gallon), but its numbers were a dollar lower than last year. The national average of $4,146 per gallon is the lowest since $4,127 on July 31.

The most significant regional decline this week, according to the EIA, was a decline of 9.2 cents per gallon in the Midwest. The West Coast also saw reductions over Thanksgiving. Excluding the state of California, the diesel average in the western region fell 8.1 cents per gallon.

The Gulf Coast remains the only major US region where diesel sells for less than $4 per gallon ($3,793 per gallon). But in the Lower Atlantic, a subregion of the East Coast, prices dropped significantly to $3,959 per gallon. California prices are this week at $5,579 per gallon, the highest in the country.
