Learn the important dates and how to get your fleet in the best condition for the inspections.
2025 started off interestingly for the road transport industry, and as we approach the change of season, inspections are just around the corner. Truck safety checks and annual inspections begin in May and continue for several months. Although this can create stress for drivers and fleet managers, the key to handling it is preparation. The outcome of your inspection will directly depend on how prepared you are.
Below is a guide to the inspections of 2025 and the key aspects that will be evaluated. Starting with the 2025 CVSA Roadcheck, learn the important dates and how to get your fleet in the best condition for the inspections.

CVSA Roadcheck 2025
This year’s CVSA Roadcheck will take place from May 13 to 15, over three consecutive days in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This year, the inspection will focus on tires and falsified Record of Duty Status (RODS) logs. During the Roadcheck, inspectors will conduct a thorough assessment of tires to identify any issues that may compromise safety, such as air leaks, flat tires, improper repairs, and more.
In addition to tire inspections, special attention will be given to drivers’ Record of Duty Status (RODS) logs, aiming to identify those who are not in compliance with regulations, as well as potential violations related to the manipulation of electronic logging devices.

Annual Inspection
The DOT annual inspection is a mandatory federal evaluation for all commercial vehicles. It ensures that your truck meets the minimum safety standards and remains roadworthy throughout the year. The following areas will be thoroughly evaluated:
- Exhaust system
- Coupling devices
- Steering and suspension
- Windshield
- Secure load
Remember, failing to complete the annual inspection before December 31, 2025, can result in hefty fines, downtime, and even the suspension of your operating authority.

Random Road Inspections
In addition to scheduled inspections, random roadside inspections can occur at any time and any place. Therefore, it is crucial to keep your documentation up to date and your truck in top condition. These inspections are key to enforcing safety regulations, ensuring sector-wide compliance, and keeping roads safer.
