The annual report of the Global Top 50 of the freight transportation industry has been announced by SJ Consulting Group Inc. This year the first six positions have taken a turn, since Amazon is the company that is placed as number one on the list.
The 2023 edition of this report offers a fresh view of the main actors involved in the movement of goods and the management of goods in all modes of transport, ranging from truck, rail, sea and air, to parcels, as well as such as third-party logistics providers. Companies in the Top 50 are ranked based on their annual revenue generated in 2022 through freight and logistics operations.
The decision to include online companies such as Amazon in the analysis demonstrates the significant impact that e-commerce has had on the freight transportation industry in recent years. Throughout its history, Amazon has built a third-party logistics operation of monumental proportions, which not only powers its own e-commerce network, but also supports companies that are not directly linked to Amazon.com.
